About MyNatalSky

Why I built this site, how the calculator works and how I check it.

Diya Wilson, founder of MyNatalSky

Hi, I'm Diya Wilson

I built MyNatalSky in Appleton, Wisconsin, to give you an accurate birth chart and a reading you can actually follow, with no account and no paywall. I studied Jyotish (Vedic astrology) at Kepler College, and I read Western tropical charts through self-study and practice.

Why I built this site

A birth chart should be easy to get and easy to understand. Many chart sites ask for an email before showing results, bury them in symbols or quietly round off the details that matter, such as the exact time your rising sign changed. I wanted a calculator that shows you what is certain, what depends on your birth time and what it all means, in plain English.

Every page on this site follows the same idea: answer the question first, explain it clearly and show the evidence.

How the calculator works

  • Planet positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source library that models the solar system to a fraction of an arcminute.
  • Chiron positions come from a table built from the Swiss Ephemeris by Astrodienst.
  • Time zones come from the time zone database built into your browser, including historical daylight saving rules, so a 1944 or 1974 birth gets the clock rules that applied then.
  • Places come from GeoNames, with about 141,000 cities and towns worldwide.
  • Houses default to Placidus, with whole sign, equal and Porphyry available in the astrologer view, along with the sidereal zodiac.

How accurate is it?

I test the calculator against the Swiss Ephemeris, the reference most professional astrology software relies on. On 300 random charts from 1900 to 2050, every planet, angle and house cusp agreed to within one arcminute, a sixtieth of a degree.

I also run 22 real-world charts through the live page and check every number it displays, 1,044 values in all, including births in War Time, Arizona, India, Nepal, Australia and inside the Arctic Circle. They all match.

How I keep your details private

Your chart is calculated in your own browser, and your birth details are never sent to me or to advertisers. There is no account, and charts you save stay on your device. The site is supported by ads from Google AdSense, which uses cookies as explained in the privacy policy, along with how to turn off personalized ads.

How the readings are checked

I check every reading and guide on this site before it goes live, and I correct pages when something needs fixing. If you spot an error, I would like to hear about it.
